Smith Rock State Park

This internationally famous rock climbing area is on the banks of the Crooked River with seven miles of hiking trails and a multitude of climber access routes. It encompasses 651 acres on the Oregon high desert plateau, which hovers around 3,000 feet in elevation. The park features a walk-in bivouac campground and climbing wall for day use and camping. If rock climbing is not for you, don't worry, there is more to experience. The picnic and campground areas sit on top of the rimrock, which is made of columnar basalt. Smith Rock boasts unique geological formations, wildlife, hiking and picnic areas. Smith Rock's multi-colored rock structure is made of welded tuff and is millions of years old. Miles of hiking trails lead to the top of the rock and to other remote locations within the park. The natural beauty of the park is breathtaking. The park also offers miles of mountain biking trails.
